Critical Conduction Power Factor Correction Controller
The IN-PLUG IPS102 is a primary-side switching controller which provides high performance active power factor correction (PFC). The PFC circuitry forces the SMPS to draw a current proportional to the instant AC line voltage in order to charge a storage capacitor thus resulting in excellent power factor and low line harmonics generation. The output of the PFC is a regulated voltage which slightly exceeds the peak line voltage.

Feedback Controllers With Low Current Sense Voltage
The IPS20 and IPS21 are low-voltage current sensing feedback controllers used in switch mode power supplies to control load-side current and voltage. They have been designed to limit the power dissipated in the sensing circuitry for high output current applications that require current limiting. They both incorporate a 4V shunt regulator for maximum flexibility to power the chip.

The IPS20 and IPS21 only differ by the characteristics of the current sensing references.The IPS20 incorporates a trimmed 50mV reference with a positive temperature coefficient which closely matches that of a PCB copper trace. This copper trace sensing method can be used inexpensively with very low associated power losses. The IPS21 incorporates a temperature compensated 100mV reference for more conventional resistors. Both controllers feature the same voltage regulator section with a trimmed temperature stable voltage reference of 1.19V.

Current Mode PWM Controller
The AAC242/43 are PWM controllers designed as upgrades on the workhorse UC1/2/3842 and UC1/2/3843 family of Current Mode PWM Controllers, available from various sources. The AAC242/43 are intended for Offline or DC/DC power converter applications.

Features in common with the x842/x843 design include current mode control, pulse-pulse current limiting, undervoltage lockout with hysteresis and an on-board voltage reference. In addition, as with the x842/x843 controllers, the AAC242 is differentiated from the AAC243 by its undervoltage lockout thresholds. The AAC242 has turnon/turn-off thresholds of 16V and 10V respectively, while the AAC243 thresholds are 8.4V and 7.6V respectively. The AAC243 is targeted for battery applications, based on their lower undervoltage and hysteresis levels. The lower V-ILimit options of the AAC242/43 of 0.25V, as compared to the 1.0V for the AAC142/43, allow for lower current sense measurements.

Other features designed into this family of Current Mode Controllers are intended to enhance their functionality and range of use. The maximum Start-Up current is substantially lower than the x842/x843. Output drive rise and fall times of 50ns for the AAC242/43 compare to 150ns maximum rise and fall times for the x842/x843. Other unique features of the AAC242/43 include an integrated soft-start function tied to the clock of the internal oscillator (approximately 330 cycles), leading edge current blanking of 100ns and a more robust, higher current MOS output drive stage capable of driving much higher source and sink currents. The enhancements in drive capability, as well as rise and fall times, enable the AAC242/43 to operate up to 1MHz vs. the 500kHz maximum typically ascribed for the x842/843.

The NX2837 controller IC is a single power supply synchronous Buck controller IC designed for step down DC to DC converter applications. NX2837 is optimized to convert bus voltages from 9V to 22V to fixed 5V output. This switching 5V output is the input supply of an internal 3.3V LDO which can provide output current up to 700mA. An internal regulator converts bus voltage to 5V, which provides voltage supply to internal logic and driver circuit. The NX2837 operates at 350kHz and employs fixed loss-less current limiting by sensing the Rdson of synchronous MOSFET followed by hiccup feature.Feedback under voltage triggers Hiccup.
Other features of the device are: Internal schottky diode, 3.3V LDO power good indicator, Thermal shutdown, 5V gate drive, Adaptive deadband control, Internal digital soft start, Vcc undervoltage lock out and Shutdown capability via the comp pin.

This family of 2N3439L through 2N3440L high-frequency, epitaxial planar transistors feature low saturation voltage and are military qualified per MIL-PRF-19500/368.  These devices are also available in TO-39 and low profile U4 and UA packaging.  A standard commercial RoHS compliant version is also available with the "e3" suffix.

The NX2838 operates from 200kHz to 1MHz and employs loss-less current limiting by sensing the Rdson of synchronous MOSFET followed by hiccup feature.Feedback under voltage triggers Hiccup.
