Controller Based Encryption
Overview
The security of your data is paramount. Uncompromising protection of your customer’s mission critical data is a critical requirement for the modern storage solution.
Government legislation is now mandating even stricter data security and privacy requirments in the Health Care, Financial and Government market verticals which represent a significant overall percentage of the enterprise storage business. It is also an emerging requirement for multi-tenant cloud environments, where data at rest needs to be encrypted with multiple Data Encryption Keys (DEKs) per drive. Controller-Based Encryption (CBE) provides meaningful advantages over alternative solutions in these applications. CBE is a high-performance data encryption technology enabled by Microsemi storage controllers supported for multiple silicon generations. It reduces operational complexity and expense, improves security, and delivers additional flexibility when compared to Self-Encrypting Drive (SED) technology, all at virtually no performance impact compared to unencrypted deployments. Microsemi offers controller-based encryption offerings on both the maxCrypto™ Controller Based Encryption and on the Tachyon® platform (storClad™) for the Storage Systems market. |
Microsemi’s CBE technology delivers the following advantages over SED technology:
