The popular 1N957B thru 1N992B series of 0.5 watt Zener voltage regulators provides a selection from 6.8 to 200 volts in standard 5% or 10% tolerances as well as tighter tolerances identified by different suffix letters on the part number. The somewhat larger DO-7 packaging option offers a “straight-through” soldered internal connection with a larger active die element than otherwise provided in the smaller DO-35 package when needed. Microsemi also offers numerous other Zener products to meet higher and lower power applications.

SD17A Datasheet
The SLVU2.8K-4U provides 500 Watt protection with LOW CAPACITANCE, LOW CLAMPING VOLTAGE and the LOWEST LEAKAGE in the industry for two lines to ground (common mode). Low unidirectional capacitance of 10 pF for each line and low standby current provides a more stable signal in higher frequency applications and at lower operating voltages of 2.8 volts. Negative transients on each line are also clamped to very low voltages with an anti-parallel forward diode in each leg (line to ground). The SLVU2.8K-4U is designed for use in applications where protection is required at the board level from voltage transients caused by electrostatic discharge (ESD) as defined in IEC 61000-4-2, electrical fast transients (EFT) per IEC 61000-4-4 and effects of secondary lightning. These arrays are used to protect two lines by connecting both pins 1 and 8 to line 1 and pins 4 and 5 to line 2. Pins 2 and 7 as well as pins 3 and 6 are all connected to ground as shown in Figures 3, 4 and 5.

These have an internal-metallurgical-bond option as identified by the “–1” suffix. This internally bonded Zener package construction is also in JAN, JANTX, and JANTXV military qualifications. The SMBJ4728A-4764A and SMBG4728A-4764A series of surface mount 2.0 watt Zeners provides voltage regulation in a selection from 3.3 to 100 volts with different tolerances as identified by suffix letter on the part number as well as RoHS Compliant with an e3 suffix. This surface mount product series with lower thermal resistance features is equivalent to the JEDEC registered 1N4728 thru 1N4764A with identical electrical characteristics except it is rated at 2.0 W instead of 1.0 W. It is available in J-bend design (SMBJ) with the DO-214AA package for greater PC board mounting density or in Gull-wing design (SMBG) in the DO-215AA for visible solder connections. Microsemi also offers numerous other Zener products to meet higher and lower power applications.

This 400 W Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) series is an economical molded axial-leaded package to protect voltage-sensitive components from destructive or partial degradation. They are available in both unidirectional or bi-directional configurations as well as RoHS Compliant (annealed matte-Tin finish) with an e3 suffix added to the part number. They have a peak pulse power rating of 400 watts for a 10/1000 µs as depicted in Figures 1 and 2. The nominal breakdown voltages (VBR) in this series extend from 6.8 to 400 volts. This Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) series for 1N6373 thru 1N6389 are JEDEC registered selections for both unidirectional and bidirectional devices. The 1N6373 thru 1N6381 are unidirectional and the 1N6382 thru 1N6389 are bi-directional where they all provide a very low specified clamping factor for minimal clamping voltages (VC) above their respective breakdown voltages (VBR) as specified herein. They are most often used in protecting sensitive components from inductive switching transients or induced secondary lightning effects as found in lower surge levels of IEC61000-4-5 . They are also very successful in protecting airborne avionics and electrical systems. Since their response time is virtually instantaneous, they can also protect from ESD and EFT per IEC61000-4-2 and IEC61000-4-4.

The “FemtoFarad” product family is specifically for ESD bidirectional protection of vulnerable electronic components, especially at IO ports.
