SA4-35 Datasheet
This series of Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) devices is packaged in a ceramic, dual-in-line, hermetically sealed package. These components offer 15 protective devices, unidirectional or bidirectional, common buss connections, per package. The dual-in-line is designed specifically for data line protection, at the PC board level. TTL and MOS voltage levels are available for protection of input/output data circuits. Microsemi also offers numerous other TVS products to meet higher and lower power demands and special applications.

The GMP-5 series is a low voltage Transient Voltage Suppressor designed for the protection of integrated circuits with very low Clamping Voltages (VC). Due to their very fast response time, protection level and high discharge capability, they are extremely effective in providing protection against 5-volt line transients generated by: voltage reversals, capacitive or inductive load switching, electromechanical switching, electrostatic discharge and electromagnetic coupling.

The ICTE-5 through ICTE-45C series of Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVSs) are designed for the protection of integrated circuits that require very low Clamping Voltages (VC) during a transient threat. Due to their very fast response time, protection level and high Peak Pulse Power (PPP) capability, they are extremely effective in providing protection against line transients generated by: voltage reversals, capacitive or inductive load switching, electromechanical switching, electrostatic discharge and electromagnetic coupling.

SA4-43 Datasheet This hermetically sealed Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) product family includes a rectifier diode element in series and in the opposite direction. This allows it to present a very low (< 100 pF) capacitance to the system it is protecting. The low capacitance of these devices makes them particularly useful for protecting lines carrying high frequency signals. They are also useful in protecting from the secondary effects of lightning in airborne avionics per IEC61000-4-5, RTCA/DO-160G, and ARINC 429. If bidirectional transient capability is required, two of these low capacitance TVS devices may be used in parallel in opposite directions (anti-parallel) for complete ac protection. |

This LDTS series is used in automotive and vehicular applications where further protection may be required for load-dump and field-decay transients. This type of protection is needed when the battery is disconnected while the engine and alternator are still operating. This produces prolonged severe transients requiring additional transient voltage suppressor design considerations beyond those ratings specified for other conventional TVS components.

This Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) series for 1N5555 thru 1N5558 are JEDEC registered selections for unidirectional devices. All have the same high Peak Pulse Power rating of 1500 W with extremely fast response times. They are also available in military qualified selections as described in the Features section herein. They are most often used for protecting against transients from inductive switching environments, induced RF effects, or induced secondary lightning effects as found in lower surge levels of IEC61000-4-5. They are also very successful in protecting airborne avionics and electrical systems. Since their response time is virtually instantaneous, they can also protect from ESD and EFT per IEC61000-4-2 and IEC61000-4-4.

The MSV series consists of a matched set of silicon p-n junctions configured for bidirectional application. They can be used in telephone equipment, replacing copper-oxide varistors, fractional voltage regulators, negative-temperature-coefficient resistors, signal limiters and expanders. They are ideally suited for meter/galvanometer protection, wave shaping, threshold limiters and zener diode compensation.
The MSV varistor uses two or more forward biased matched silicon diodes in anti-parallel legs in a two-electrode device configuration. It provides a voltage-dependent nonlinear resistance that drops markedly as the applied voltage is increased similar to a TVS except it offers lower voltage features.
MSV devices are designed for controlled protection at various current levels and are rated at various peak pulse currents.
These varistors are supplied in Microsemi’s cost-effective, highly reliable, molded axial-leaded package. Non-standard voltages are also available. Devices in this series with VC2 clamping are rated to U.L.497B requirements. (See table).

The PHP and PIP bidirectional Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) modules are designed for applications requiring “across the line” ac power protection. They are used where extreme voltage transients can permanently damage voltage-sensitive systems or components. These devices are most often used when discrete TVS components do not have sufficient power requirements to suppress high power surges. These modules can be used to protect equipment from induced lightning, power surges, and transients originating from inductive switching or power interrupt for both commercial and military applications. This includes telecommunications, central office switching and PABX, CATV distribution, aircraft, shipboard, computers, distributed data processing and power supplies. The subassembly components can also be tested or screened for military requirements prior to encapsulation into the complete module. The screening would consist of 100% TX level environmental testing per MIL-PRF-19500/507A (Par. 4.3). For ordering these options, use the following suffix:
H1 – Submodule Screening
H2 – Submodule and Module Screening
H3 – Submodule and Module Screening & Module Group B & C lot testing

This SAC5.0 thru SAC50 transient voltage suppressor (TVS) series rated at 500 watts provides an added rectifier element as shown in Figure 4 to achieve low capacitance in applications for higher speed data or signal lines. The low capacitance rating of 30 pF may be used for protecting higher frequency applications in inductive switching environments or electrical systems involving secondary lightning effects per IEC61000-4-5 as well as RTCA/DO-160D or ARINC 429 for airborne avionics. If bidirectional protection is needed, two SAC devices in anti-parallel configuration are required as shown in Figure 6. With their very fast response time, they also provide ESD and EFT protection per IEC61000-4-2 and IEC61000-4-4 respectively.
