RF/Microwave Filters
Overview
Microsemi is a global leader in designing and manufacturing custom Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) components and modules for defense and space. We are the largest exclusive defense and space supplier of SAW products. This technology provides the small size, weight, and power required by defense airborne, space, and portable systems.Engineering
SAW design, analysis and system modeling using proprietary software is a special strength, as is circuit and mechanical design using the latest EDA tools. We preliminary design and model a new SAW product, and provide an s-parameter file, at proposal time. Manufacturing processes and equipment receive significant continuous engineering attention for custom automation and yield & thru-put improvement. Each product is fully screened and tested over temperature using custom test software to operate test equipment and generate a completed deliverable Acceptance Test Data Sheet.Manufacturing & Quality
Microsemi's SAW wafer fabrication Lab (Fab) is a 2000 sq ft, class 100, controlled and monitored environment. Microsemi also has its own component assembly, 5000 sq feet, class 100, controlled and monitored environment, and a 1500 sw ft Module assembly area Quality is integral to every aspect of Phonon’s business. Our fully documented Business Management System is registered to ISO-9001:2008 and provides the operating structure to support our Quality Policy.SAW Products Quality Policy

SAW Product Realization
Testing and processing performed at Microsemi is carefully selected for maximum customer satisfaction and minimum cost. Software, fixtures, procedures, and work instructions are all developed to meet the specific needs of each customer and configuration controlled with customer notification or approval where requested. Our exclusive presence in the Military and Aerospace Markets provides customers knowledge and experience with satisfying requirements ranging from the most complex MIL-PRF-38534 Space K qualified hardware to streamlined MIL-STD-883 screened hardware frequently used in rapid prototyping.Specialized SAW Needs
Microsemi has long been an international supplier, successfully managing the complexities of ITAR, RoHS, and WEEE requirements. Our 30 year history of SAW product and process stability means that Microsemi can support long lived programs without fear of obsolescence.Program Management
Because of the complexity of many of the orders we receive, Microsemi has adopted a Program Management approach for processing, managing and communicating with our SAW customers. The Program Manager provides the customer with a single point of contact during the duration of the job. This makes it easier for the customer to know who to call with a question on any aspect of their order.
The Program Manager is responsible for reviewing all contractual requirements including the Purchase Order, Specifications, Quality Clauses, Terms and Conditions, Statement of Work and any other document relevant to the order. This insures that all requirements of the contract will be carried out correctly during the life of the program.
This system also guarantees that the customer will be provided with frequent updates, usually in the form of milestone charts on the progress of the project at any given point in time. The Program Manager’s role is to act as an intermediary between the customer and Microsemi’s SAW engineering and manufacturing groups to assure the program progresses on time. If a problem does occur, they inform the customer on what is being done to correct the issue and then get the program back on track.
