Overview
GMII (Gigabit Media Independent Interface) is an Ethernet interface standard, and RGMII (Reduced Gigabit Media Independent Interface) is intended to be an alternative to GMII. This reference design provides a bi-directional bridge function for transferring data between RGMII and GMII. CoreRGMII Direct Core IP Gigabit Media Independent Interface (GMII) to Reduced Gigabit Media Independent Interface (RGMII) design provides the RGMII between RGMII-compliant Ethernet physical media devices (PHY) and the embedded Gigabit Ethernet controller in the SmartFusion2 Family of SOC FPGAs. This core can be used in all three modes of operation (10/100/1000 Mb/s) wherein the MDIO interface is used to determine the speed of operation. This core is capable enough to switch dynamically between different speed modes of 10/100/1000 Mb/s. Features:
