Backlight Driver Modules - LCD Panel Cross Reference

Microsemi backlight driver solutions are designed to provide optimal performance and reliability across a wide range of panels while at the same time simplifying the customer supply chain.

Microsemi’s RangeMAX™ is a patented digital dimming technique that enables an extremely wide brightness range for any LCD application. Our RangeMAX series of Direct Drive CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) Inverter ICs and Modules are specifically designed for driving LCD backlight lamps while offering small form factor and high-efficiency. Unlike traditional dimming CCFL inverters, the RangeMAX series provides the designer a vastly superior display brightness control. A brightness range up to 100:1+ is available providing exceptional display readability at less than 1% of full brightness, allowing both power savings and enhanced user experience enabling low ambient light operating capability (i.e. "night readable").

PanelMatch™ is a feature that allows one inverter to properly drive a number of LCD panels by significantly changing the lamp current. The lamp current requirement varies with the make and model even for panels of the same size and configuration. PanelMatch uses up to two dedicated pins on the input connector (SET1 & SET2) to allow the user to easy program the maximum lamp current. These maximum current setting inputs are in addition to the separate dimming (BRITE) control input. Customers can use this feature either to simplify their supply chain (i.e. distributors) or to purposely mismatch the lamp current specification for a panel (to extend lamp life for instance).

StayLIT™ is a fault detection and management system that provides the detection of one or multiple lamps failure, a management of such failure in the form of continued proper operation of the remaining lamps and the generation of a fault signal that can be used to plan the user next action.

PanelMatch and StayLIT are available on both CCFL and LED backlight driver modules solutions.
